This is the plain (or vegetarian) version of curried rice which can be used tastefully as any side-dish.
Makes about 41 cup white basnati rice grains
1 tablespoon ground curry powder*
1 cup water
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon chili powder*
1 tablespoon garlic (minced)
1 cube vegetable bouillon
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon ground cumin*
Some black pepper*
* The amount for these ingredients can customized to your taste.
At low heat in a saucepan, heat the olive oil. Add in the minced garlic until it softens. Slowly incorporate, while stirring, the curry and chilli powders, the cumin and pepper. When these ingredients are starting to fry and make a nice aroma, add in a little water and the bouillon.
Raise the heat to high and incorporate the soy sauce with the remaining water. Right before boiling, add in the rice while stirring. Once the mixture starts to boil, reduce the heat to simmer and cover for 15 - 20 minutes or until all the liquid has been absorbed by the rice.
Take aside from the heat for a few minutes and serve.
